Herbert Bempah

Originally from Ghana, West Africa, Herbert is a junior in Joy Kidd House majoring in accounting and concentrating in finance. Aside from his work as Co-Chair at TEDxUNB, he also serves as the Vice President Internal for the UNB Student Union where he has advocated for a Fall Reading Week for undergraduate students to stay mentally healthy. He has also implemented a Wellness Week at the University of New Brunswick. Herbert is also working on a campaign entitled “Breaking Stereotype Project”  to combat bigotry and to debunk false stereotypes amongst marginalized groups, particularly international students at UNB. Herbert loves RnB and Hip Hop music and can be often found talking about how great Ghana is.


Richard Du

Hailing from Fredericton, NB, Richard has always been excited by the endless possibilities of imagination. Entering his third year as mathematics student at the University of New Brunswick, Richard is thrilled to help launch TEDxUNB. Richard believes strongly in the idea of potential; that ideas can spark people to create change in the community. In other areas of the UNB community, Richard is also the graphic designer of the UNB Student Union and the president of the UNB Math Society. During his spare time, Richard enjoys playing music, cooking, badminton and Kendrick Lamar.

Jill Lamb
Delegates Director

A native from the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia, Jill has always been passionate about being a “Maritimer.” She believes we can all be influential change makers coming from this small, but mighty part of Canada.  Jill is excited for the opportunity to help innovate others and engage them to become a part of TEDxUNB through her role as delegate’s chair. She is currently enrolled in her third year of a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Psychology here at the University of New Brunswick. She is also an Educational Proctor in Joy Kidd House and founder of S.P.R.I.N.G., a program that promotes the importance of physical activity for children with disabilities through a mentorship program with university students.


Katie Bonner
Logistics Director

Originally from Rothesay NB, Katie is in her fifth year and will be graduating in the spring with Honours in Biology-Chemistry and a minor in Philosophy. After spending her summer planning and organizing the UNB Student Union’s Orientation Week and Shinerama Campaign, Katie is excited to take what she’s learned and apply it to her role as Logistics Director on the TEDxUNB team. Katie has always been passionate about student engagement which is just one of many reasons why she is excited to be involved in an event that will spark connection, collaboration, and inspiration among UNB students!

Charlotte Sampson
Marketing Director

Charlotte is a second year Arts and Science student from Vancouver, British Columbia. She has a broad appreciation for all academic subjects and doesn’t limit herself to any given domain. Charlotte believes the TEDx initiative to spread ideas is exceptionally important in a city such as Fredericton; abundant in youth, progressive in thought, but having an underestimated impact. As such, she is extremely excited for her role as marketing director with TEDxUNB and hopes it can spark passion, creativity and innovation in the students of UNB. Charlotte is also co-president of the UNB Undergraduate Math Society and plays on the Women’s Varsity Soccer Team.

Daniel He
Sponsorship Director

Daniel is a third year electrical engineering student at the University of New Brunswick and is originally from Fredericton, NB. Daniel believes in innovation and creativity to create positive change in communities, and is delighted to help start up TEDxUNB. Daniel is also the President of the UNB Engineering Undergraduate Society and works to end gender violence through the White Ribbon Campaign. During his free time, Daniel enjoys reading the New Yorker and playing ultimate frisbee.

Ryan Cobb
Speakers Director

Ryan is from Riverview New Brunswick, he graduated in May 2016 from UNB with a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Leadership studies from the faculty of Renaissance College. Ryan is currently a third year Chemical Engineering student and takes pride supporting students in his role as an Educational Proctor in Aitken House. Ryan believes that ideas are worth sharing, which lead him to want to help launch TEDxUNB. Ryan wants to promote risk taking in New Brunswick and desires to change the negative narrative surrounding New Brunswick.  In his free time, Ryan enjoys broadcasting on Facebook Live and following start-ups.

Karim Fagir
IT Director

Descending from Sudanese parents, Karim is a third year Chemical Engineering student, minoring in Mathematics, from Fredericton, New Brunswick. He is currently serving as secretary to the Chemical Engineering Undergraduate Society and works as a student assistant with the University of New Brunswick Centre of Enhanced Teach & Learning Equipment Services, managing an extensive pool of audio and visual technologies. Karim believes TEDxUNB has the ability spark individuality amongst UNB students and push students of different disciplines and interests to think outside the box. Karim has vested interests in world issues, music, basketball, enjoys the beauty nature has to offer.
